Product description

Neoseiulus californicus

N. californicus is a predatory mite that can be used against all stages of different species of spider mites. This predatory mite can also survive on a diet of pollen or other mites, or even for some time without food. Neoseiulus californicus is very effective in combination with Phytoseiulus persimilis.

Neoseiulus californicus predatory mites have a light brown to pink color. The predatory mite is an active viewfinder and is well visible in the crop. The eggs are small (over 0.1 mm) and have a light brown/cream colour. An adult predatory mite lives about 20 days, of which it lays eggs for 14 days, an average of 3 eggs a day. The whole life cycle can only last 4 days at high temperatures. Neoseiulus californicus has five stages of development: egg, larva, first and second nymph stages and adult predatory mite. The larvae have six legs, the nymphs and adult mites have eight legs. From the first nymph stage they are predatory. Predatory mites prick the prey and suck it empty. Per day an adult N. californicus predatory mite can eat about 5 adult spider mites with possibly some larvae and eggs.

Compared to Phytoseiulus persimilis, Neoseiulus californicus is less sensitive to chemical pesticides.

N. californicus should be used in an early stage of pest development. The predatory mite can be used in many different crops where spider mites occur.

At Royal Brinkman, a team of specialists checks the quality of beneficial insects, mites and nematodes. Based on a protocol, they work to deliver the best quality to the customers.

Packaging
Each bag contains 125 predatory mites. Californiline comes in different formulations. In addition to the (mini) bags which are provided with a hanging hook which makes it easy to introduce the predatory mites into the crop, you can also choose the gemini bags which can be placed in the crop. In addition, the following loose material formulations are available: vials with 2,000 individuals, and tubes with 25,000 individuals. Due to the composition of the carrier, the material can be both sprinkled and blown.

Instruction for use
Keep product cool until use. Allow the product to cool down to (greenhouse) temperature. Prevent too rapid an increase in temperature, this can lead to a temperature shock for the predatory mites. Open the box with the bags in the crop. Tear the bags apart along the perforations. Spread the culture bags as well as possible over the crop. Hang the bags in a place sheltered from the sun. Avoid contact with heating pipes and CO2 pipes. The degree of application always depends on the pest pressure in the crop, so ask the product specialist for the correct dosage.
